WIN has developed its programs to be culturally sensitive and recognizes the needs of those who are socioeconomically less fortunate. Our obstetric management team has spent most of their careers in academic centers managing Medicaid populations and the ever increasing number of immigrants. Access and language enhancement have been shown to improve the continuity of care for these patients. Our educational program assists in addressing these groups. The Medicaid population requires extra prenatal visits, coordination of ancillary services, effective communication, and management of high risk conditions. The Medicaid group is more likely to deliver babies who require NICU care. MFM and Neonatology must be recruited and coordinated to assist in reducing the morbidity in this group during the perinatal period. The WIN Obstetric Management Program specifically addresses each of these challenges.
